Description

Response Ability Pathways (RAP) translates research on positive child development into relationship-based methods to foster pathways to responsibility. This book was piloted by the authors in South Africa to transform services to young people at risk. This text is written in practical language for use in training youth professionals, educators, parents, and adult or peer mentors. All who are concerned with young people need the ability to respond to their needs rather than react to their problems. RAP teaches skills to connect with kids in need, clarify problems, and restore bonds. Following Circle of Courage resilience principles, RAP focuses on Belonging, Mastery, Independence, and Generosity. Methods are linked to best practices and the research literature on resilience and positive youth development. Training in RAP has been provided internationally and is coordinated in North America by Starr Commonwealth.

PreText South Africa (2005). 140 pages.
